The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The Problem with Forever
This is the kind of book you don't expect from this author , there are no aliens, no paranormal beings and no mystery. It is about life and how hard it gets for some people who are not born in a loving family or who end up in the wrong side of town.

Mallory and Ryder grew up together in a horrible foster home and managed to survive. After being separated for several years they happen to end up in the same high-school. Ryder is still a foster child with a Puerto Rican family and Mallory has been adopted by Carl and Rosa , two successful doctors.

The book is really engaging at the beginning and you will read the first chapters holding your breath and sighing . However, as you continue reading you start to figure out what is going to happen and some parts are a little cliché.Don't get me wrong , this doesn't make it a bad novel at all, I think Jennifer L . Armentrout is a great author but there are certainly no surprises for an avid reader. I also missed some more depth in the characters of Rosa and Carl, I would have liked to know more about how they felt and what they thought.

All in all it is a good book and a chance to read a different kind of novel from Jennifer L. Armentrout.

The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware: review

The Woman in Cabin 10
The best thing about this novel is the blurb; the person who wrote the plot summary is a skilful writer who could sell anything to anybody.

My expectations for this novel were so high and my disappointmet was so big that I don't even know what to say about it. I love Agatha Christie's novels and comparing The Woman in Cabin 10 to any of her works is a joke .

The way the book begins is slow and completely unrelated to the rest of the story . However , it clearly shows what kind of person Lo Blacklock is: a confused woman with a severe drinking problem.

Then the plot seems to get better when all the passengers embark on a luxury boat and we start getting to know them . The first night of the cruise Lo Blacklock thinks a mysterious woman has been killed on board and her body thown to the sea. The rest of the passengers find it hard to believe her and the fact that Lo is sleep-deprived and still high on pills and alcohol doesn't make her story plausible.

This murder happens too quickly and it's very difficult for the reader to start trying to figure out who did it because we have very little information about the characters . I wish the author had developed them more before a twist in the plot in which everything is hastily revealed . That's the last straw that broke the camel's back. I lost all interest in the book afterwards.

I didn't DNF it because I wanted to write a review. I read the last chapters and my disappointment grew even bigger. The loose ends, the undeveloped characters, the poor plot , the random incidents that have nothing to do with the story and the unappealing main character made me feel that this book was not my cup of tea at all.

Kuala Kangsar Ubudiah Mosque and palace in Perak , Malaysia

Designed by the  British architect Arthur Benison Hubbard, The Ubudiah Mosque is said to be one of the most beautiful ones in Malaysia. We could only see it from the outside but it was indeed remarkable.

As part of our tour we then visited the royal palace called Istana Kenangan.

Consider by Kristy Acevedo : opinion

Consider (Holo, #1)
This book surprised me and I am not easily surprised. I was expecting another sci-fi/insta-love YA novel and I found a very well written book about pulling oneself together and making tough decisions.
The ending took me aback ; I could have predicted it but I was too worried about the characters to even think about it.
It is a science-fiction novel but that's not the most important part of the plot.It is in fact the most realistic sci-fi book I've read lately because the author focuses on human behaviour much more than on fiction and action.

Kristy Acevedo has done a briliant job and this is her debut novel, I just can't wait for the next one.I would strongly recommend this novel to YA fans , sci-fi fans and the kind of people who always wonder what if....
