The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz

The Plot This book is not nice. Don't read it in bed before going to sleep, because you won't have nice dreams if you manage to put it down. There's a very unpleasant novel (to say the least) inside a very intriguing one. In the beginning, everything goes slowly and I thought that it may not live up to the high expectations I had, but I was wrong.

I didn't really like the main character. A writer who seemed to have lost all hope and whose life was boring until he found "the plot". Then he changes for the better and his life becomes more exciting. He also musters the courage to protect what he has achieved and the second part of the book is much more fast-paced and definitely undownputable.

The final twist didn't come as a surprise to me. However, that fact didn't make it less appealing. The writer disappointed me again for his lack of foresight, inability to connect the dots and helplessness.
The novel didn't disappoint me though. Jean Hanff Korelitz wrote it with the skill of an author who truly knows human nature.

I recommend this novel to readers who are not easily appalled by how terrible people can be.

Park Shin-hye , the heroine in Sisyphus the Myth

In spite of not speaking Korean, I found this series quite entertaining and different from what I usually watch. I spent a few weeks in Korea some time ago and I love Seoul and K-beauty, of course. So whenever I have the chance of watching something that has to do with that beautiful country, I do it even if it is with subtitles.

Nothing Much Happens by Kathryn Nicolai

Nothing Much Happens: Cozy and Calming Stories to Soothe Your Mind and Help You SleepDo you know that feeling when you find a book that is exactly what you need when you need it? That is just what I felt when I found Nothing Much Happens, both the book and the podcasts, by sheer luck.

In this book you will find stories in which nothing much happens, however, they are full of relaxing details that will help you forget about your daily problems and fall asleep with a smile on your face.

This is what I do with this wonderful book: I read a story in bed and then I listen to the podcast in which she tells the story twice with a charming and sweet voice. I must confess that I sleep much better after doing this and have nicer dreams than when I read mystery novels just before sleeping.

I like all the stories but one of my favourite ones is Early to Yoga. In fact, yoga is something that is helping me during the pandemic. Thanks to this novel I found out about the pose Viparita Karani (Legs Up the Wall).

Kathryn Nicolai also has podcasts, a website, a YouTube channel, Facebook and Instagram. All of it for extra cosiness.

I highly recommend this book and the podcasts to everybody. I have given it five stars on Goodreads.
