Long Son and Hai Duc Pagodas in Vietnam

In the city of Nha Trang in Vietnam apart from beautiful beaches there are sights worth visiting for the tourist who gets tired of sunbathing. Long  Son Pagoda , previously known as  Đăng Long Tự , has been relocated and renovated several times .

There is a 14 metre long reclining Buddha with a happy smile and huge feet.

From there you can easily get to  Hai Duc Pagoda and see a beautiful white statue of Buddha which from the ground up is 24 metres high.

The picture below shows a  "swastika" comes from the Sanskrit svastika - "su" (meaning "good" or "auspicious") combined with "asti" (meaning "it is"), along with the diminutive suffix "ka." The swastika literally means "it is good". The first time I saw one in a Buddhist temple I was astonished because I didn't know the origin of the symbol.

The Gautama Buddha statue is impressive and can be seen on Google maps.

Starcrossed : Romeo & Juliet revisited

Hot guy from another planet falls for nice girl from Earth and their relationship is doomed from the very beginning. He has, of course, some mysterious powers . She is definitely different from the rest. An untimely and almost accidental death is going to turn their families into enemies.Even if the show has all the topic situations you can think of , it is still entertaining, at least the first chapter.

Uninvited by Sophie Jordan : Book Trailer

Uninvited (Uninvited, #1) I must say that I have read a few chapters from this book and I am in two minds about continuing or not. Don't get me wrong, the book is really entertaining and well written but the plot is becoming a bit too worrying for me.

A talented and intelligent girl from an upper-class family is all of the sudden considered a criminal-to-be and therefore sent to a horrendous high school for which she is ill-prepared surrounded by real criminals including abusive staff members.I am afraid this cannot end well .

Raven: Delirium 2.5 Review

Raven (Delirium, #2.5)

I must confess I don't usually read the novellas that are sometimes part of a saga, I don't find them interesting . So far the only exception I have made is this saga, Delirium has captivated me and the novellas are just as good as the books, which is not the case most of the times.

Lauren Oliver manages to develop the characters that have appeared on her novels and make them more understandable .Her previous novellas Hana and Annabel are a must , it is not possible to know the motivations of the characters without reading them. In Raven the author also reveals facts about this character's personality and about her life which make us realise why she behaves the way she does. (It is sometimes difficult to write a review without spoilers!).

You just can't miss it.Whether you should read it before or after Requiem I don't really know yet, since Requiem will be my next book.

Tanah Lot Temple in Bali

Pura Tanah Lot , the temple of Tanah Lot was the first one I visited in Bali. Although the day was cloudy and grey  the beauty of the scenery made it worthwhile .

Unfortunately  the temple itself cannot be visited. You can  only approach the steps, however, you need to beware of the tide and the waves.

Pura Batu Balong is another small temple that you can see in the same location.

The area is quite big with beautiful gardens ,statues and other buildings.

It is indeed a very popular sight, like most on the island , so be prepared to be surrounded by tourist ,who just like you want to take the best picture.
