The American Girl by Kate Horley: opinion.

The American Girl
This book reminded me of a summer I spent trying to learn French in France. I lived with a host family, went to lots of parties and to the swimming pool. I still remember the strong smell of Gauloises that everybody seemed to love, and of course the delicious baguettes.
My problem with this book is that it scared me, I like being intrigued but not frightened and unlike other readers who found it bland , I started thinking foolishly that it could have happened to me. If this is not your case, you will probably enjoy this book a lot.

By the way, my host parents were an adorable couple of retired shopkeepers !

Buzz Books 2017: Young Adult Spring/Summer

Buzz Books 2017: Young Adult Spring/Summer

Buzz books are just like a box of chocolates, you open it and you can smell the wonderful aroma and they all look so good that you don't know which one to pick. My advice: pick them all.

All the excerpts in this 2017 Young Adult Spring /Summer novel will appeal to many types of readers. There's fantasy, love, hatred, fights, and even comics.

If I had to choose one to start with, I would choose Rebels Like Us by Liz Reinhardt. In this novel the author deals with the unthinkable idea of a segregated prom in a rural community and a girl who has to face the fact that being half black is still a problem in some parts of her country.

Everything You Want Me To Be by Mindy Mejía: review.

Everything You Want Me to Be
I already know this is one of the best books I'm going to read this year, even if the year has just begun, because it just cannot get any better. Set in the big sky county of Montana Everything You Want Me To Be has indeed everything a reader wants to find in a book: a gripping plot, fascinating characters and a beautiful setting.

The brutal murder of a young girl shocks the tranquil community of Pine Valley and as the story unfolds we discover that things are never what they seem to be . The author's description of the characters and their intricate personalities is brilliant. Strange as it may seem, the reader understands the reasons that drive these otherwise peaceful villagers to act the way they do, because those forces that inspire them are the universal and powerful feelings of love and hatred.

I was unable to figure out who the killer was until it was revealed and that made me enjoy the novel even more, I like being surprised.

I eagerly recommend this book to anyone who wants a superb whodunit. I also think it would make a wonderful film.

Thanks to Elyse, my Goodreads friend, for writing a wonderful review that piqued my curiosity .

Angkor Wat in Cambodia: main entrance.

One of the most impressive sights I have ever seen is the main entrance to the Angkor Wat temple complex. The rock promenade across the river leading to the magnificent temples in the jungle is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. No matter how crowded or hot it is, you will never forget it.

Then, you go through  the doors and what you see will amaze you . The combination of temples and lush vegetation is magnificent.
